This contract expired at the end of 2006 and the State has no immediate plans to rebid. In order to maintain a consistent, economical source of supply, staff is recommending the use of University of Washington contract SL0206. Use of this contract requires an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the University of Washington. Such an agreement would be mutually beneficial. RCW 39.34 allows cooperative purchasing between public agencies. A public agency which has filed an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the City of Everett may purchase from City of Everett contracts, provided that the vendor has agreed to such participation. Likewise,the City extends the use of its competitively awarded bids to the University of Washington. This type of cooperation between public entities saves time and money. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the University of Washington and authorize use of contract SL0206 for Steelcase furniture. r.
