Grant No. G0700172 FINAL <br /> • 'Coordinated Prevention Grant Single Phase Off-Set Cycle Agreement <br /> with City of Everett <br /> OFF-SET CYCLE SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The project(s)set forth below summarize the RECIPIENT's budget(s)tracked by category,maximum eligible cost, <br /> goals and expected outcomes,activities with timeline, method of evaluation, and estimated total project cost. * The <br /> estimated total project cost is for grant officer information only; it will not be used for budget tracking purposes. <br /> Recipient Responsibilities: The RECIPIENT is responsible for implementing activities identified in the local <br /> Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan and the Hazardous Waste Management Plan. <br /> A. CATEGORY: Organics <br /> MAXIMUM ELIGIBLE CATEGORY COST CPG OFF-SET: $ 80,000 <br /> 1. PROJECT TITLE: Commercial Food Waste Composting Program <br /> Maximum Eligible Project Cost: $ 80,000 <br /> Summary Description: This project will target 100 restaurants and food service businesses(grocery, <br /> cafeteria,espresso cart, etc.)in the City of Everett to start commercial compost programs and start/expand <br /> recycling programs. The RECIPIENT will provide industry specific best management practices for <br /> composting,recycling, solid waste management and reduction,and management of fats,oils, and grease. <br /> The RECIPIENT will coordinate with the regional effort in Snohomish County to create and establish <br /> commercial food waste composting programs as a viable option for restaurants and food service businesses <br /> to reduce landfill-bound waste through organic compost programs. The project will build upon a small <br /> commercial food waste compost pilot program of restaurants in South Everett that is being developed. <br /> Goal Statement: To decrease organics in the waste stream by making food waste composting collection <br /> available to businesses in the City of Everett. <br /> Outcome Statement: New food waste compost collection programs will be established in 30 restaurants <br /> and food service businesses. Participating restaurants will divert(estimate)375 lbs of food waste per week <br /> per business,for a total annual diversion of 585,000 lbs or 292.5 tons from the waste stream. <br /> Work Plan and Activities with Timeline: <br /> The following work plan will be completed during the grant cycle: <br /> Activity Timeline <br /> Identify target audience(City restaurants and food service businesses in Jan—Mar 2007 <br /> the City of Everett),and estimate existing waste streams and potential <br /> organic diversion and cost savings from avoided landfill disposal. <br /> Work with City departments, local haulers,restaurant owners, Snohomish Apr—Jun 2007 <br /> County Solid Waste Division, Snohomish Health District, and Cedar <br /> Grove Composting facility to create a commercial food waste compost <br /> program and establish a service rate. <br /> 2of7 I. <br />
