'Ibis hu boen discussed with Mr, Randy Clazk of Selecx Homes, Mr. Pat McCourt
of Univasal Brokaage Corporuion, rmd Mr, Micbael Crowson of WdcH Pacific.
{'e ha'e obsaved m sigoa of instability on native alopes in Divisions III end IV. Fill
slopes on Divisions IIInd N were constivcted with st:ucturol fill consisting of on-site granular
soils under fiill-time monitoring o!'a qualified individual from our firm. 7Le structural fill is
keyad into existing fim oatrve suils and fill placed to achieve the final slope grades has been
propaly benchod inco eaisting native materials and compacted to 95 percent of MDD (maximum
dry density)accordiny w the specificadons of the ASTM D-1557 test procedure. In addition, the
lots ue gradad W slope awsy from the tops of slopes and all slopes hae been covered with jute
maning and 6ydroseoded for erosion protection.
In our opinion, whae slopes have been placed, compacted, graded, and vegetated as
i described above, the minimum buiiding saback distance can be reduced to 10 feet. The setback
. distance is the horizontal distance measured from the front face of the footing to the face of the
slope. It should be understood that if the setback distance is reduced to 10 feet, the risks of
losing access, reducing the design life of the foundations and having slope movement impact the
house foundations are increaced.
,.i r. „ , .. _
:.I\_I Y'i\.' ..
Fr, .
