PUBL/C /►f/O/Kri
 ENG/NEERING /PUBLIC SEFVICES DEPARTMENT
March 3.2003
Mr. Kevin Plemel
Snohomish County Health Dept.
3020—Rucker Avenue
Everett,WA 98201-3900
Re: Forced Sewer Connecdons
Deaz Kevin,
The Everett Municipal Code requires that all property owners witliin 150 feet nd/or adjacent to a
public sanitary sewer shall connect their private sewer system to the public sewer.
The EMC allows an eztension of up to ten years provided that the existing on-site system is
acceptaUle to the Health District. In the event tha! the Snohomish Health District determines that
the on-site sewage system is no longer acceptable within said .en years, the property shall be
connected.
Almost all of the homeowners that we have contacted to require sewer hook up have asked for the
waiver. Most of them site economic hardship as their reason for not connecting.
I would like your assistance monitoring diese homes. I hae attached a list of those customers
requesting waivers. Would you please check through the list and see if you have any record of
problems with the drain field system for these properties.
If we find that a waiver is acceptable, then would it be possible for these pazcels to be "flagged" so
if a problem arises with the drain field we can be notified?
Your help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
'rrook
Permit Services vlanaeer
Cc: .41an Locke, Inspection
Tim Tyler.Building
Monte Turner,U[ility Services
DFDVBROOKSSNC C.YTY NEALTHFORCED SEWER CO\\ECi 1OV51
CITY OF EVERETT•3200 Cedar Street• Everen, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8200 • Fax (425) 257-885fi
