'ILis has beea diaassed with Mr. Randy Clark of Select Homes, Mr. Pat McCouct
of Univaal Brokaage Cocporation, and Mr. Michul Crowson of W6cE1 Pacific.
We hrve obaaved m aigns of iastability on nadve slopes in Divisioos III and N. Fili
dopea on Diviaioas III nd IV wae conawcted with atcuctural fill consisting of on-site granular
aoils unda full-time monitocing of a qualifiod individual from our firm. 'ILe st:uctural fill is
kY 8 fum nuive soila and fill placed to achieve the final slope grades has been
propaly benched into existing native materials and compacted to 95 pucent of MDD (maximum
dry deosiry) ucordiey w the specificadons of the ASTM D-i 557 tat procedure. In addition, the
iatt are gnded to slope away from the tops of slopes and all slopes have been covered with jute
mattinR aod hydroseoded for aosion protection.
In our opinion, where slopes have beeo placed, compacted, gradeJ, and vege•ated as
desribed above, the minimum building setback distance can be reduced to 10 fcet. The setback
distance is the horizontal distance measured from the front face of the footing to the face of the
slope. It should be understoud that if the setback distance is reduced to 10 feet, the risks uf
losing arcess, reducing the design life of the foundations and having slope movement impact the
house foundations are increased,
