GEOTECI3NICAL REPORT <br />CITY OF EVERETT WPCF <br />NEW MAINTENANCE BUILDING <br />EVERETT, WASHINGTON <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />1.1 GENERnL <br />HWA GeoSciences Inc. (HWA) completed a geotechnical engineering study for the <br />proposed New Maintenance Building at the City of Everett Water Pollution Control <br />Facility (VVPCF). The purpose of the geotechnical engineering study was to evaluate soil <br />and ground water conditions at the site, and provide recommendations pertaining to <br />geotechnical aspects of the new building design and construction. <br />1.2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The City of Everett plans to build a new maintenance bui(ding at the cuaent City of <br />Everett WPCF. The new buildin� is planned to be a hvo-story struciure with a high-bay <br />in the center and storage in the upper floors. A vicinity map of the azea is presented on <br />Figure 1 and a preliminary site plln is shown on Figure 2. <br />1.3 AUTI�ORIZATION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br />A proposal for perfonnance of this geotechnical study was submitted by HWA to Brown <br />and Caldwell, and was subsequently authorized in our contract agreement dated August <br />23, 2002. The services performed were in general agreement with the above-referenced <br />proposal and scope of services. <br />2.0 INVESTIGATIONS <br />2.1 FIELD EXPLORATION <br />HWA personnel conducted a subsurfuce exploration program at the project site on <br />September 17, 2002. The exploration program consisted of drilling and sampling one <br />geotechnical boring (BH-I), to a depth of ll 3.5 feet below existing grade using a mud <br />rotary d-ill rig under subcontract to HWA. T'he exploration was located in the field by <br />taping and/or pacing distances from known site features and its approximate location is <br />shown on Figure 2. <br />The exploratory boring was logged by HWA personnel. Soil samples were obtained at <br />selected intervals in the exploration and taken to our laboratory for further examination <br />?0@I46 repon - 6ml <br />HWA GEOSCIENCES INC. <br />� <br />
