GEOTECI3NICAL REPORT CITY OF EVERETT WPCF NEW MAINTENANCE BUILDING EVERETT, WASHINGTON 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 GENERnL HWA GeoSciences Inc. (HWA) completed a geotechnical engineering study for the proposed New Maintenance Building at the City of Everett Water Pollution Control Facility (VVPCF). The purpose of the geotechnical engineering study was to evaluate soil and ground water conditions at the site, and provide recommendations pertaining to geotechnical aspects of the new building design and construction. 1.2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The City of Everett plans to build a new maintenance bui(ding at the cuaent City of Everett WPCF. The new buildin� is planned to be a hvo-story struciure with a high-bay in the center and storage in the upper floors. A vicinity map of the azea is presented on Figure 1 and a preliminary site plln is shown on Figure 2. 1.3 AUTI�ORIZATION AND SCOPE OF WORK A proposal for perfonnance of this geotechnical study was submitted by HWA to Brown and Caldwell, and was subsequently authorized in our contract agreement dated August 23, 2002. The services performed were in general agreement with the above-referenced proposal and scope of services. 2.0 INVESTIGATIONS 2.1 FIELD EXPLORATION HWA personnel conducted a subsurfuce exploration program at the project site on September 17, 2002. The exploration program consisted of drilling and sampling one geotechnical boring (BH-I), to a depth of ll 3.5 feet below existing grade using a mud rotary d-ill rig under subcontract to HWA. T'he exploration was located in the field by taping and/or pacing distances from known site features and its approximate location is shown on Figure 2. The exploratory boring was logged by HWA personnel.
