Dear Mr. Befall, 1 would like to introduce ourselves to you and welcome you to our facility, Katherine Court. The Builder and Owner, Bob Canaan, l believe you know. Phil Sherry is our Administrator and I, Debbie Do.,son, am the Staff RN and Program Director. We are under the E3r3rding Home License not Skilled Nursing as a Nursing Home would be. We are thrilled to be opening a Dementia Alzheimer unit in Everett using the GenUeCare Concept by Moira Jones. GenlleCare is a prosthetic program of care designed specifically to improre the quality of life Por persons sutTering a dementing illness by supporting rather than challenging them. There are 5 stages in the progression of Alzheimcrs and we propose to care for the first 3 levels. These residents will suf%r different levels of phys;cal, co6mitive, and behavioral changes. They may rcquire as little as directions from staffto enable them to care for themselves, they may require constant observation for safety, they may need full assistance forthings as simple as eating and toileting. All residents will need to be ambulatory. We will be capable of having 24 hour licensed stafTdepending on the medication needs of the resident. Our staff training will be intensive, crossfuntional, and ongoing to assist caregivers with the understanding of the functional deficits dementia patients suffer, to anticipate dit7iculties and stressors, and to avoid conf'rontation and crisis through support and creative problem solving. The scope of work will include support and education of families, flexible routines, meaningful activities to support former life roles, ongoing evaluation of residents, and Pro�essive levels of physicai assistance to residents as needed.
