W�SM�NGT��� <br />s�o�E« 5217 South 2nd <br />IOOF Hall (continuei) <br />The City Council delayed action oa the demolition order and granted <br />Y immediately and <br />Mr. Manley a six month extension of time to rehabilitate the building. <br />They also direcdan erousaconditionetherethe building <br />to correct any 9 <br />After considerable urging, Mr. Manley completed the securing of the <br />building on February Z1, 1975. <br />On May 20, 1975 we found the building open to the public and again <br />being vandalized•. T9e asked .lr. Manley, by letter, to immediately <br />corzect this prublem. There was no response to this letter. <br />After we found the buildiny being stripped of its wiring and fixtures <br />on June 19, 1975 we referred the matter to the City Council. <br />On June 25, 1975� Mr. John Ferguson, a third party, addressed the <br />Council and asY.ed for a delay so that repairs could be made. He <br />stated that he intends to acquire title to Y.he building• When Mr• <br />Ferguson made no attempt to begin repairs, we again !�eferred the <br />matter to the City Council on July 16� 1975. <br />The Everett City Council, on July 16, 1975, passed a resolution ordering <br />the abatement of the building but held the resolution in abeyance <br />until August 20,;1975 to allow the owner to begin repairs. <br />d the Everett <br />Bids for the demolition were opened on August 19, 1975, an <br />City Council awarded the contract to John Schnei.der with the stipulation <br />that he provide a perfermance bond of an unlimited amount. <br />Mr. Schneider could not meet this requirement and we were in the <br />process of negotiating with the owners for the demoltion work when a <br />fire destroyed the building. <br />.� <br />�., , _ - - - <br />
