Official to inspect the
subject property in order to determine what had to be done
to the upstairs area in order to make it habitable. The re-
quest came from Mr. and Mrs. Van Sant. Mrs. Wilson -van Sant
was present during the inspection.
The inspection was conducted at 11:15 a.m. on this date.
Tim Tyler will submit his report to me when completed.
I noted: Electrical space heaters had been installed in two
rooms upstairs and one room was being occupied as the of-
fice. I asked Mrs. Wilson -Van Sant if there was an electri-
cal permit. She did not know.
Later today, Mr. Van Sant called to say he was not aware of
the need for an electrical permit and he did not realize
that expanding his business office to the upstairs unit was
a violation of the NCU permit (expansion of an NCU).
I explained to Mr. Van Sant that ALL electrical, building,
plumbing and mechanical alterations to a structure required
a permit from the building department, and that he should
obtain such a permit for work done immediately. I also told
him that he could not expand the business operation without
obtaining an expanison of a NCU permit.
