� <br />1. To construct frame <br />Use 2"x8" boards cut the appropriate len3th of ramp (or aail boards <br />together for needed length). The Lrame should be 4 feet wide and not more <br />than 30 feet long. Next, using 2"x4" boards, joists (support boards) should <br />be nailed ia the frame, perpendicular t� the lengthwise baards, at 24" <br />intervals. Pressure blocks (small wooden blocics used to reiaforce joints) <br />ahould be eecurely w►iled to both the joist and the lengthwise board. The <br />joists and pressure blocks should be flush vith ehe lengthwise board. <br />Z. Leagthvise board should be supparted every 8 feet or less. <br />3. Use 4"x4" 1�6er to build support legs. Nail securely to lr.agthvise <br />boards of ramp frama. <br />4. Wood supports ahould be held together crith crosa bracing in hoth directions. <br />F.'hea lengthtrise boards are spliced for appropriate leagth of ramp, all splices <br />should be on top of supports. <br />5. Deck <br />6. <br />7. <br />Douglas fir plywood, grade A.C. or better should be used, A side up. <br />Nail 3/4" plywood to ramp frame, exteading beyond lower end of frame to rest <br />on sidevalk. Protective metal stripping should be used at end of ramp, using <br />flat-head wood screws counter aunk into top of stripping. The deck should rest <br />on the �oists, set dawn ben:een the lengthwise boards, leaving approximately <br />2" of the lengthsrise board above the deck, forming a safety curb. <br />Deck is to be nailed with 8 pd. (pound) cemeat coated box nails or <br />fasteaed with 1 1/2" 08 flat-head wod screws. <br />A straight ramp requires a five foot square laading. When there is not <br />room to make a straight ramp, it is required ehat a level landing of at least <br />five foot square be iastalled at each tur.n and be the same construction as <br />ramp. <br />2 <br />
