The purpose of our review was to verify nnd confirm that geotechnical recommendations,
as outlined in the above referenced report, were valid and were incorporated into the development of the
design drawings. Design drawings reviewed in our evaluation were titled "Maple Residence" and
included slieets 12 of 12, prepared by Dave A. Hermans,with a plan date of August I5, 1995.'
The residence will be a two-story wood-frame struMure with a lower basement level. The main floor
will be established at an elevation of 504.5, with the lower basement nine feet deeper,at an elevation of
495.5. Based on existing sire topography, this will require an ecavation of approximately six feet
below existing surface grade. The residence as shom on the site plan is set back a minimum distance
of 22.5 fcet from the top of a steep west-facing slepe.
fn the above referenced geotechnical report prepnred by T7e Galli Group, soil conditions at the site were
noted ro consist of hvo to three feet of surficial fill composed of a silty sand vith gravel, followed by
dense consolidated Glacial till. Observations of the westen slope as reported by The Galli Group's
representative, noted the slope to be in a stable configuration, with no evidence of past or current slope
instability at the time of their obsenations. Based on their observations and limired field exploration, it
was recommended that the building be set back a minimum distance of 22.5 feet from the top of the
slope, and that building foundations gnin support on dense native soil conditions underlying the existing
surficial fills.
12525 WilloY:s Koad, Suite 101, Kirkland, Washinglon 9803d • Phone (425) A21-7777
