v Ltl4 a6J1Yi4tYY13i'1'1: =tiF R, 1. aJ.1YCpK'r. id.':>4' c, ....-,.._`,d:11L.M1iHCC,vulw+•'.111+:,ilil4sa:YN ... .-.. ;S
Ta
SPAN -DECK is a precast, prestressed, hol-
low -core concrete plank for use -as struc-
tural floor, roof and wall panels. SPAN -
DECK is manufactured by a precision
casting process providing dimensional
control and uniformity unattainable in
other concrete materials. Lengths are
sawed rather than formed so that dimen-
sional accuracy is assured to meet PCI
Design Handbook tolerances.
Because of larger core areas and thinner
surface thickness required, SPAN -DECK
weighs less per square foot than other
similar concrete decking units available.
As a result, SPAN -DECK offers reduced
footing and foundation design require-
ments and a lower section depth to span
ratio. Load tables on the following pages
will confirm this.
SPAN -DECK has a smooth, steel -formed
ceiling. A variety of textures are available
at a nominal cost.
r• In many floor applications, SPAN -DE.CK
may be used without additional concrete
topping. joints between slabs are grouted,
suitable underlayment or padding applied,
and finishing carpet, 1 - d floor, or the
installed. SPAN -DECK is .n ideal material
not only for floors, ceilings and roofs, but
also for wall panels. Being plant fabri-
cated, SPAN -DECK can be quickly erected
year -around in virtually any climate.
USE Of VOIDS
SPAN-DECK's large core areas have been
used for electrical raceways and for forced
air supply and return. SPAN -DECK core
areas are easy to penetrate for whatever
application you have. Simply use a ham-
mer and chisel, a core drill, or lust a
hammer.
rr
r
`FIRE
SPAN -DECK meets the conditions for the i-
re.w restrained and unrestrained fire rat-
ings criterion of ASTM E119 and is listed
by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., for two-_
our tire -resistant classifications (un-__,:•>;
topped), restrained and unrestrained con-
ditions. Three and four-hour ratings are
also available with the use of field cast
-1
topping. See design numbers J914, 1915,
J916, J917, 1918, 1949 and 1952 in U. L.
Building Material List.
ACOUSTICAL PROPERTIES
■--SPAN-DECK's
hardiock surfaces and hot-
,
low cores resist air -borne noise and
transmission of impact noise to provide
Jqualities
superior to those of a solid con-
Crete slab of equivalent thickness. Sound
O
absorption and acoustical tests were ton-
Testing
1.
ducted by International Acoustical
O O 0
Laboratories revealing a Sound Transmis-
sion Class rating of 50 as per Test 5.346.1
hardrock SPAN-DECK.''i
on 8"
