Jeff Heilman 1
From: I:irk Brooks
Sent: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 3:44 PM
To: 'paul d_kern@yaho.cem'
; Jeff Heilman; Tony Lee
Subject: 1501-Rucker Ave Addition/C0707-025
Paul,
I have reviewed your proposal for constru:tion of the addition at 1501- Rucker Ave. Based on your
new submittal, you have addressed items 2 through 7 of Jeff Heiiman's Aug. 20th letter in a
salisfactorily manner and have incorporated then into the plans as requested. Item 1 on the list,
having to do with exterior walls within the fire separation distance has posed more of a challenge with
regards to meeting tfie exact letter of the code, which is sometimes the case when it comes to apply
the code to additions and alterations of existing buildings. I think that you have made a satisfactory
attempt to ap;ly as much of section R302 code as practical in this situation. This is taking into
consideration the fact that you are creating a one-hour fire resistive rating along the north side of the
addition and that portions of the existing house eave project into tlie fire separation distance already.
Considering all the factors in this situation, I will allow the proposed solution that you have presented.
This decision is based on this case only and should not be construed as a pr.-approval in a similar
situation. Thank you for working with us on finding a solution.
Kirk
