The Rucker Grand Overlay District was established <br /> in February of 1993 to preserve the historic chazacter of the neighborhood. ['ve enclosed the <br /> Neighborhood Conservation Guidelines,the Rucker Grand Elistoric Neighborhood brochure and <br /> some information on historic rehabilitation for our information. <br /> Your plans as submitted are acceptable and would meet the minimum requirements for the <br /> district, but [ am including some drawings and sutgestions f'or your rehabilitation that would <br /> restore some of the historic character to yout home that has been lost in previous remodeling. <br /> There is a house at 3305 Federal, behind Providence Hospital,that is exacdy the same <br /> style as yours and has been very nicely renovated. It even has a reaz addition such as <br /> you're proposing. You might want to look at it for some ideas. <br /> When your remove the asbestos siding, you may find the original �3�ood cladding is intact. <br /> [f so, you might consider painting it, as they did at 3305 Federal, rather than covering it <br /> with vinyl siding. You may also find some decora[ive N�oodwork under the asbestos that <br /> }'ou will want to retain. <br /> if}•ou do find that you need to apply new siding, it is suggested that you use a very good <br /> quality nazrow horizontal siding. The addition of wide trim around the windows and <br /> possibly on the comers, such as has been done at 3305 Federal, would restore some of <br /> the original character. <br /> Your home and the house next door to you are among the oldest homes in the district. They aze . <br /> both good examples of eazly Everett workers' homes and are important as part of the history of <br /> the neighborhood.
