Proper protection of the naturral �as meter shall be provided. This nro- <br /> tection is necessary to protect the meter located on the north side of the <br /> building from possible demage by motor veliicles parking nearby. <br /> 2. Discontinue the practice of using the rubbish chute leading from the third <br /> floor down to the garbage container on �he nlley lerel located on the east <br /> side of the building. A fire in the garbage container could set tUe entire <br /> back porch on fire. Fires in rubbish are very common due to spontaneous <br /> heating. <br /> 3. Pro�erly weight check, tag and hydrostatically test the carbon dioxide fire <br /> extinguisher next to the furnace room. <br /> 4. Install and meintain one fire extinguisher with a minimum of a 20BC rating <br /> fcr the protection of the furnace rccm located in the basement. The carbon <br /> dioxide fire extinguisher located next to the furnace room has too small a <br /> BC rating for the hazard. <br /> 5, The interior nf the flirnace room lccated in the basement must be repaired <br /> and brought iy to ¢ minimum of a one-hour fire ratin�. This will require <br /> that: <br /> a. the plaster bo¢rd be taped at seams, corners, et�. , and the hole <br /> leading to the false ceiling be sealed off, and <br /> b. the fresh air intnke be installed with a hstch or cover with a one- <br /> hour rating �minimum) on hinges held in the open position by a <br /> chain with a fusible lii�lc rated at 212-250° F. On the melting of <br /> the fusible link durinK a fire this hatch must be able to cover <br /> the vent completely und latch ehut, and <br /> c. properly repair the self-closing device on the fire door of the <br /> furn¢ce room. This door must be able to operate freely and close <br /> completely. <br /> 6. Install and mnintain one approved 2A rated fire extinguisher for protection <br /> of the bnsement ¢ren. The requirements for both the A and BC rating require- <br /> ments for the basement and furnace room may be accomplished with one ex- <br /> iinguisher with a minimum of a 2A 20BC r�.ting. <br /> 7. The guard rnils on the porches on the eact side of the building shcll be <br /> raised to not less than 42" in height from the floor level. <br /> 8. The fire eccape on the sout:� side of the building providing extra potential <br /> from the second and third f]oor shall either: <br /> a. be equipped with a ladder to enn.ble the persons using this escape <br /> ¢ccess to ground level, or <br /> b. be removed comple+,elv with signs stating as euch. <br /> A reiuspection of these premises will be conducted on or after June 8, 1974, Please <br /> see that the above violetions Nill be corrected.
