.
- TE
*o Herb Boushe
  /
ioan Bud Krom `" `b o !(/
/ /
Dr1TE t1arch 27, 1981 _ .'
iUBJECT WATER DAMAGE O ZAZ9 R GTY OFEVERETT, FVEflETT WASHINGTON
We put two services into this building - one 4" fire service and one 2" domestic
service, .
The two inch plastic we installed came apart. However, when we did our work
there was no plumbing coming out of the building. They had to have a plumber
hook our pipig to the building plumbing. When we went to hook this joint back
up that pulled, the piece of plastic was too short so we had to cut a new
piece. This makes us wonder if when the plumber came through the wall , he
didn't horse on ours to make his fit. But this you know he will deny. Also,
if he would have properly sealed the pipes he ran through the basement, very
little water Hould have gotten into the basement before we got it .shut off.
They should be made to do this to prevent any further damage.
I don't think there shouid be that much of a .damage claim, About one half of
a 50' x 100' of: the basement was carpeted with a thin glued-down carpet. 41e
went into the basement right away and vacuumed the entire area working until
7 p,m, to get up all the water we could. Then we went back the next morning
and got a little more water up and asked them to put heat down there to dry
up everything. If they dry this out so it doesn't mildew and the glue holds
(I don't believe there was any padding) and since there was only clear water
on this carpet, I think all they would need would be a professional shampoo
job.
Ken Sprecher said he talked to an electrician the next day as they were con-
cerned about their wirin9. He said they would blow it out with air and he
didn't see any problems.
:s
cc: Don Wahl
John Garza
on Ileitkamp
Dennis Janke
Ken Sprecher
