The purpose of the room is to allow indNiduals to provide urine samples
without the necessiry of using ihe public restrooms located across the alrium from the clinic.
Because of the (ntended use of the room It is necessary to have a toilet located in the room.
However, it should be noted the room is not a public restroom.
When the plans were reviewed notes were mede indicatinp that the room needed to be desiqned to
allow for 18 Inches of manewering space perpendular to the door. The room has a structural
pillar which does not aibw for the 7 B inches of clear fbor space to the side of the door as
required. However, we are able to meet all oMer requlrements indicated on the drawings.
There are two restrooms located on the first fioor which are fully ADA accessible. The ADA does
not require all toilets to be accessible, but (t does require ihat a reasonable number be
accessible. The proposed remodel will not decrease Ihe number of accessible toilets and would
tend to decrease the Ioad on the current restrooms thus makinp them more accessible.
:Ye request Ihat you review the proposed plans and allow us to prceed without requiring the 18
inches of clear (loor space to the side of the door. It is not structuraily feasible to move the
pillar, if ihe 18 inches of clear floor space is required we will not be able to proceed with ihe
project.
I have enclosed Ihe original drawings for this poject along with drawings of the first floor
indicating restroom locations and specifications.
If you have any questions please cortact me al 339-5215.
Sincerely;
,1,ct1 ;' '
_ __. , .
Donald E.
