A
Ferrrilt# 3%Z5C'j
Instructions:
1) Carefully review the requirements of each of the options below. Choose an option that best suits your
dwelling design. Glazing percentage typically determines which option to choose. Your building must match
the selected Option requirements without exceptions or substitutions.
2) In the shaded areas on the pages that follow, make checks in the circles next to the requirements of your
Option (the Option numbers are In paretheses next to the choices). Disregard components or equipment that
don't apply to your project. Your permit will be processed more efficiently if you provide all of the requested
Information. Department staff can help you with general questions about this form.
Can't comply? If none of the Chapter 6 Options are acceptable, consider the Chapter 5, Component
Performance, Approach. The main advantage is flexibility to juggle individual R and U-values as long as a n
overall mayimum value isn't exceeded. Note that the overall thermal requirements of Chapter 5 are nc less
stringent than Chapter 6. Calculations may be performed with a Chapter 5, Component Performance
Worksheet, or by using an acceptable computer program such as WATTSUN 5.1.
WEESNORAUSEPTEMBER 1991
Glazing max:
OPT I
O
OPT II
Pf
OPT III
O
OPT IV
O
OPT V
O
OPT VI
O
kr t v sbil
p
r t vm
kO ,
;
ate=
of floor
:.
12%
Y2°!o
15%
8"/°
21%25
o r'
30%
U-value x
g0 46
YY
0.43
f OA -
0.40
0 39
0.36
, 0 5
0.32
Door U-value 2
0 40
0.20.
b 40
0 20
0.20
0.20J
^A,
20 „
0.20
(or R- value)
(R 2
(R 5)
{R 2 5) ;
(R 5)
{R3)
(R-5)
{q5) t(R-5)
_
„.
Ceilings:
with attics
R 38
R 38
`R38"
R 38
R 38
R-38
R 98 :'
R-38
vaulted
R30
R-30
R 30
R-30
R. 30
R-30
A 30
R 30
Walls:a,«
as;:
above grade
21 e R 19
R 21 ?
t
R 19
R 2 Q
R-21
R,%.
R-19
belowgrade
interior
or
A 21 R 19R
s
21
R 19
A 2t
R-21
r
yR 2f
R-21
R 10R10£
R10^
R-10exterior
Floor
fi H p0
R30 ,.
R30
0
R.30
R-30
Slab on grade
R 10
s x
y0v 5I
R 10
R
R-10
,rI3,30',T
a
s`
10.
R-10
Footnote:
1) R5 foam sheeting required In addition to R19 cavity Insulation.
2) Gla7Jng and door U•values may be weighted to meet the Option U•value requirement.
Page 1
