GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING STUDY
Inform, Inc
May 9, 2002
SITE CONDITIONS
Surface
E-8493-5
Page 2
The subject site is located immediately southwest of the intersection of 41" Street
Southeast and Rucker Avenue in Everett, Washingto (see Plate 1, Vicinity Mapl. The
site consists of an approximately 17,800 square foot, rectangular shaped lot currently
occupied by an existing Union 76 gas station. The subject site is situated approximately
one hundred twenty (120) feet northeast of existing Safeway Store #1484. The subject
site is bordered to the west and south by asphalt-paved parking and drive areas for the
existing Safeway Store, to the east by Rucker Avenue, and to the north by 41 "` Street
Southeast. The existing gas station that occupies the site will be removed to make way
for the new fueling station.
The subject site is essentially flat with little discernible elevation change across the site.
The site is covered by existing structures and pavements with no vegetation.
Subsurface
Subsurface conditions were evaluated by drilling two borings and reviewing subsurface
data from our previous study completed for existing Safeway Store /t1484 located to the
southwest. The borings for this study were drilled to a maximum depth of twenty-one
and one half (21.5► feet below grade within the limits of the fueling station. None of the
borings for the previous study were drilled in the vicinity of the planned fueling station.
The approximate locations of the borings for this study are shown on Plate 2. Please
refer to the Boring Logs, Plates A2 through A5, for a detailed description of the
conditions encountered at each location explored. A description of the field exploration
methods is included in Appendix A. The following section contains a generalized
description of the subsurface conditions encountered.
At our boring locations, we encountered two to three feet of fill. The fill consists of
medium dense silty sand (Unified Soil Classification, SM) with varying amounts of gravel.
The fill is similar to the underlying native soil but is' characterized by its disturbed
appearance and presence of trace amounts of angular grevel.
Enrlh Cnnullnnle, Inc.
