(EPI) is pleased lo present ttiis baseline ground water quality assessment
for the property localed at 4102 Rucker Avenue in Everett, Washington (site). The purpose of this work
was lo provide baseline ground water qualily information for the site after the cessation of retail fueling
and prior b construction of a new Safeway retail fueling center at the site. The general location of the
subjecl property is shown on Figure 7.
Ground Water Sampling Procedures
On June 7, 2002, EPI sampled a total of six monitoring wells at ihe site and one monitoring well in
Rucker Avenue to Ihe east oi the site (i.e., MW-8). Sampling was conducted in coordination witli
AMEC, who were on-site collecting ground water samples from several of the wells for BP. EPI split
samples from wells samplel by AMFC (i.e., MW-5, MW-6, MW-7, and MW-B). EPI was not able to
sample monitormg well MW-3 because a job trailer was parked on top of the well. EPI also coliected
samples (rom wells MW-1 and NW-10. There appear to be several olher wells on the proer:y that
were not labeed on Ihe maps that were provided to EPI by BP. These wells may be air sparging or
vapor extraction wells. EPI sampled one o( lhese wells, which they labeled Unknown-1 for the
purposes of this work. Well locations are indicated on Figure 2.
The depths to water and tolal depth of well were measured using an electronic water level mete:r. To
ensure reproducibility of the data, all measuremenls Here made to the north side of lhe top surface of
the well casing. The average depth to ground vrater was 5.73 feet below grade. According to site data
collected during this monitoring evenl, the hydraulic gradient is generally noriherly to northeasterly with
a slope of approximately 0.016 (eet per foot. Piezometric elevalion contours are also indicated on
Figure 2.
