WASHINGTON During the inspection tour of this property on October 12, 1973, numerous discrepancies were noted. Generally, this service station has been permitted to deteriorate with little or no maintenance or repair. The small building that was the office has some of the windows broken and was quite wet inside on the day of the inspection. A small travel trailer has been placed upon the property next to the office. The electrical power cord has a splice in the middle which is exposed to the elements. Fire extinguishers d:, not meet the requirements for service stations. "NO SMOKING" signs are not posted as required. One of the gas pumps has been damaged. The wood frame building to the south does not meet any of the requirements for a repair garage. This is the apparent use, judging from the partially dismantled trucks and autos on the property. The electric wiring in this building is especially he.zardous considering the use and type of building. In summary, this entire operation appears to have reached the point of no return. It is my opinion that the owners will not upgrade this property to meet the standards for service stations. It has been years since any maintenance has been performed. I feel that closure of this station is justified in the interest of safety, and that abatement procedures be started to rid the property of the deteriorated buildings.
