Geotechnical Design Parameters
"-1"5 Dynasty Homes Site
Merch 9. 1998
Page 5
Thus, we do not consider this site likely to be at risk of liquefaction , or liquefaction
I elated settlement, either during construction, or throughout the reasonable lifetime of
the building.
From our slope stablllty analyses it Is evident that the final (reconstructed) northeastern
slope Is generally stable under both static and dynamlo conditions providing the fill Is
placed and compacted under control and the fill is carefully benched Into the original
site slope surface. We analysed the slope for conditions for the minimum factor of
safety, and for the factor of safety that applies to a potential failure plane at the crest
of the Slope immediatey a scant to the edge of the driveway and/or yard area. The
resulting factors of safety are tabulated below:
Based on the results of our stability analyses, we see no geotechnical reason why the
stability of the constructed slope should pose a threat to the long term integrity of the
site. The minimum factors of safety were for very shallow surfidal "sloughing" failures
on the lower slope face of up to about a foot in maximum depth. These do not pose
a threat to the overall stability of the constructed slope. Based on these analytical
results we see no geotechnical reason for a need for a setback or buffer zone either
along the toe or the crest of this slope.
Site drainage control will also be an Important element in site development. Because
of the generally poorly draining (Impermeable) nature of the shallow in -place soils we
believe It will be necessary to install both temporary and long term drainage control
measures. These measures must Include perimeter foundation and basement level
drains, and an underslab capillary break layer and vapor barrier.
We also strongly recommend the installation of a separate tlghtline to collect the roof
downspout discharge. All collected water should be directed to a positive and
permanent discharge system such as a nearby storm drain catch basin.
AO'd "M GMT-ee-ce
