3.03 FILL <br /> A. General: Preparation for fill: Remove debris and decayable matter from <br /> areas to be filled. <br /> B. Siructural Fill: <br /> I. General: All fills shown, other than on drawing 1.1.4, "Excess Maferial <br /> Mounding Plan," shall be placed as siructural fill. <br /> 2. Preparation: After completion of site clearing, the area to be filled <br /> shall be proof•-rolled under ihe direction of ihe Special Inspector to <br /> locate soft areas and to prepare the base for the structural fill. AIl <br /> soft areas shall be overexcavated fo suitable ground and all fills <br /> benched into }he exisTing ground. <br /> 3. Material: On-site excavated material shall be used for siructural fill <br /> only if it can be placed and compacted when its moisture content is <br /> within 2% of optimum. The Special Inspector shail be notified if <br /> conditions do not permit placing and compaction with the moisture <br /> content in the plus/minus 2% range. <br /> All siructural fill material should be free of debris, organic contam- <br /> inanis and rock fragments larger than 6 inches. Particle sizes larger <br /> than 3 inches should be excluded from ihe top foot of fill. <br /> 5.
