i .
I Nnar waa swy
I Tecnporary Erosion and Sed'unentadon Control Stracegy:
Exishng Control Prograe► and ContinBenc.es
I 1, 'Ihe project plans and notes call fa the grading tirtrits to be fenced and the silt
fencing to be plxed prior to the commencement of clearing, gcubbing, and grading
BCLIVIICS.
I2, 'Ilie intenduf straugy is to grade the farthest.dwnslope areas according to the
3, the upperleftpartof Drawing 4,and alo g the u,r pazgthof tho match lineg
between Drawings 3 and 4.
Those areas would be hydroseeded as soon as possible afterrading there is
I complete, fa'vly early in the growing season, and tefore grad►ng proaeds on the
rema nder of the site. As designed and shown an tte gradingplan, these sreas
would be sculpted to fonn a series of shallow clept+essions in a broad swale, sloping
I gentiy towards the exisdng Narbak Creek channel, They would be surouded
during consmction with the silt feucing described above. By grading and
hydroseeding these furthest downslope areas first, they will be avazlable and in-
I place to serve a sedimentation funcdon during the consmction of the remainder of
the project upslope. This series-of-shallow-depressions-in-a-broad-swale-backdrop
will grow longer as grading, topsoil placement, fimsh grading, emd hydroseed'u.g
I proceeds upsiope. Essentially, the ennre project amounts to a troad and divetse
biofiltradon facility;it provides its own biofiltration function.
I Any sucface runoff from lhe to-be-grded areas of the site during conswetion
would have to pass successively through the downslope swale length and series of
shallow depressions, through the silt fencing, and finally through undisturbed
I riparian areas of varying width beEore entenng the Narbeck Creel• channel. Since
site grading is direcced to occur during the dry seas.;n, little,if any, 'iu'face runoff
from the graded areas is ezpected, ezcept possibly as a result of an unseasonably
I intense rainstorm such as a thunderstonn.
3, The following contingencies could be undertalcen to increase the level of
I sedimentaaon funetiomng of these areas as required or needed.
A. Pack loose svaw(not unopened bales)along the upslape side of the silt
fencing along the low secdons that cross swales. Ths is where any surface
I flow or seepag would be passing tivough the silt fence barrier towards the
existing Narbeck Creek channel.
I B. Increase the depth (and thereby the volume),either temporarily or
permanently, of the as-proposed shallow depressions such that they have an
increased amount of dead storage with improved function as wet, water
Iqualiry improvement ponds.
4. Complete the ponded areas to the west of the new Fluke access road prior to
Idigging out the "deep water" sections of expanded Narbeck Swamp. These
