the Map Section at the back of this report). Bird census stations are marked in the
field with orange-topped, six-foot stakes. Each station will be sampled between mid-
April and end of June, 20 minutes at each station during early morning.
C. Wlldlif trensect
Five wildlife transects were established, each crossing a vegetation plot except for
transect M1 which crosses photo point k4. Three of the transects are loceted in the
constructed wetland area and the remaining two are loceted in enhanced buffer
. areas. Transects are 300 feet long (91.5m), not inciding portions that cross the
interpretive path or the perimeter hail. Each area will be sampled in spring or fall by
carefully tuming over logs and rocks along transects and recording any observations
or signs of wildlife. Egg masses and/or aduk amphibians will be recorded as
observed. Wildlife transect locations are shovm on the sample pint location map
(Exhibit 1, included in the Map Section at the back of this report).
D. QthaL
Except for that noted above, the wildlife use of the area has been Iimited during the
construction period. N active nests have been ident(fled at this time. Preserved
snags show some evidence of past woodpecker foraging. No observations or
detecNons of rare, threatened, or endangered species have been noted. Exposed
muddy areas will be examined in late summer for animal tracks. Other signs of wiidlife
activity will be noted throughout the monftoring periods.
41
