Steve Miller PE accompanied me to your site and has reviewed your proposal with regards to strucmral considerations and for conformance with thc A11an Dlock Dcsign Manual (copy enciosed). Several likely deficiencies in your method of construction were obscrved. They are as follows: 1. A review of table 8.1 of the manual indicates that you arc exceeding the rr.siximum height alluwed for gravity walls without Geogrid. ]f the soil type considered is firm to silty clay or silty sand the m:iximum hcight of the wall would be 2.5' to 3.0' for the 3-degme angle you �rc conswcting. 2. There are aspects of the wall that bring it under construction criteria for a Reinforced Soil Walls as outlined beginning on page 9 of the manuaL This type of construction requires thc installation of a Gcogrid. 3. The Non-Rcinforccd Tcrracing that you are incorporating docs not appear to follow the spacing necds shown on page 15 of thc ManuaL It appears as if your spacing would require reinforcement. 4. Thc cells in thc blocks must be filled in order to provide the weight necessary to prevent the �Vall from overturning. 5. Thc Block wall �vithin the Public Right of way on the North side of your project must be reduced in height ("ihis is the area were there was a settlement failure) if it is to remain un-rcinforced. This :,ection of wall should be removed down to the base and rebuilt �+�ith a minimum of founda�ion consistine of G' of compacted crushed gravel.
