The house is <br /> being purchased by: <br /> Vincent P,. Thonpson <br /> 4627 116th Street i�.E. <br /> hlarysville, :dashington 99270 <br /> as noted on the Veterans' Administration Certificate of Reasonable Value. <br /> The house is founded on dark brown silty material . As shown in the <br /> attached sketch, the "foundation" consisted of a 6" aiall on grade. No <br /> spread or continuous footings(typical foundation construction) �•�ere be- <br /> neath the tualls. Typical bearing values for this type of material is <br /> approximately 2000 pounds per square foot, as long as the material remains <br /> in a fairly dry state. <br /> The east side of the house has undergone settle�ent of up to 6" on the <br /> southeast corner and approximately 2" at the northeast corner, which <br /> caused the floors to slant. The settlenent �•ias probably caused by the <br /> following primary factor� : <br /> 1. High soil bearing pressures due to small foundation uiidth <br /> (6" wall ). <br /> 2. Saturated soil due to discharge of rain.vater from roof do�an- <br /> spouts and also overflo�a from washing machine due to plugged <br /> drain pipes. <br /> Remedial action taken consisted of the following: <br /> 1. Drain pipes cleaned out and are no�d in a servicable condition. <br /> 2. Roof downspouts on the southeast side of the house discharges <br /> directly into a 30" diameter X 4'-0 deep dry well . Dry �•rell <br /> located approximately 20' east of house. Downspout on north- <br /> east side directed onto concrete driveway via concrete splash- <br /> block and ao-iay from house.
