4
1
 August 21, 1986 n
IAU 2 5 1986
._............................ ........
_..
Marion G. Payne CITY OF EVERETT
Housing Inspector p, rks Det.
Public Works Department
Dear Ms. Payne:
I received your letter concerning the status of one of my apartments located
at 2223 Wetmore Ave. (#3) in Everett.
I wish to thank you for helping my tenant to realize that the condition of
the premises was not satisfactory for habitation. The tenant in that apartmenl-
was given notice to vacate the premises in June of this year because of an
unidentified water leakage into the apartment. At that time they were told that
they should find a more sui.*.able place of residence as I was not able to
I ascertain the sour.:e of the leak. The tenant was reluctant to find another
residence which caused this water problem to escalate as there was no way
to open the floor of the apartment to find the problem while the tenant remained
in residence.
As a footnote, it was discovered that the hot water tank wes faulty in this
case and it had taken up to a month for the leak to become noticeable and for
the full failure of the heating unit. The tank was replaced wi[hin thirty-six
hours of my notifica[ion of thin occurrence with another unit so as not to
inconvenience the tenants relying on this water supply.
i
Work is currently under way in the replacement of the floor and carpets of this
unit.
Once again I thank you for your help in this matter.
i '
/" -
i
Mark H.
