Ouryee
Linda MCMullen, Mainteance Supervisor
Sen Edwards, Plan; Examiner
Larry Callahan, Building Offirial
Sam Preston, Acting Fire Marshal
The sub, ject uncler discussion was the ongoing remodeling cf the Medical-Dental
Bui.lding. Over the past 20 years or so a lot of work has :en done, without
permits, in this building. Much of the work during this time was in violation
of existing codes.
There is now a long-range plan to motlernize this building. The City's concern
is that work be tlone by permit, in compliance with the appropriate codes, and
that existing deficiencies be addressed.
The City's number one concern is that exiting deficiencies be remedied. Our
feeling was that a number of "minor remodels" might result in an overall
"meor" change or upgrade without a corresponding change in exiting.
Although several "proects" were discussed regarding changes in offices,
interiors, etc. , the Fire Department position wes principally concerned with
exiting.
The following two exiting items were agreed upon:
1) The principal stairway/lobby means of egress wouid be required to provide
an east-west, protected curridor/lobby assembly.
2) The second means of egress (the south section of the huilding) must be
upgraded to an "aoproved" system.
Note: A fire escape would not constitute an "appreved" means of egress.
iiL
am Preston
Acting Fire Marshall
February 11, 1987
✓
