These comments address building issues only, additional <br />revisions or additions may be required by other departments (such as Utilities, Planning <br />or Fire). All references refer to the 1994 Uniform Building Code, as amended by the <br />State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code. 1994, 1st Edition, unless <br />stated otherwise. <br />rl 111. All buildings and additions or alterations over 4,000 square feet of <br />construction area require the plans and specifications to be prepared by <br />an architect currently licensed to practice in the State of Washington, <br />RCW 18.08 <br />2. Walls and ceilings of corridors are required to be of 1-HR fire -resistive <br />construction. Section 3305(g). An architectural section through the <br />corridor is necessary to determine how this is accomplished. <br />3. Interior openings into corridors are required to be protected as set forth <br />in Section 3305(h). Self -closing or automatic closing twenty -minute <br />rated door assemblies properly gasketed should be provided. Other <br />openings are limited to 3/4-HR rated fixed glazing and shall not exceed <br />25 % of the area of the common wall. The corridor must be closed at the <br />end adjacent to office 104. <br />1/4. Elevators must be separated from exit corridors by elevator lobbies or <br />doors. Lobbies must be of one -hour fire -resistive construction with 20 <br />minute rated doors and 45 minute rated openings per Section 3305(h). <br />Doors closing against elevator openings must be 20 minute rated with a <br />4" x 24" window and panic hardware mounted on the elevator side of <br />the door.
