February 6, 1979
Lynn Fritzlan
Whitely & Jacobson
211E Third Avenue
Seattle, WA 99121
Dear Ms. Fritzlam
This letter confirms the Information I gave you In our telephone conversation
February 2, 1979, regarding street, landscaping, and sidewalk materials on the
corner of Wetmore and Wall Street, Everett.
The City has been In a CBD Street Improvement Program since 19740 and as part jf
that program has established some standard tree types to be used within the C:AD sidewalk areas.
As I told you on the phone, the City Hall Is using red oaks (Quercus Borealis) of a
minimum of 2%" caliber. We are also using Acer Rubrum at N" minimum caliber.
We have also used two types of flowering Cherry trees on Colby Avenue which may
be of Interest to you for this location. One Is the Prunus subhlrtella autumnalis and
the Prunus yedoensis. Both of these trees, however, have 20 to 70 foot spread and
may interfer with the farad of your building.
The sidewalk pattern is nwrmally tvro foot squares, broom finish concrete, however,
Colby Avenue has utilized aggregate concrete and In some loratlonu quarry tile.
The City is careful to make are that all surfaces are slip proof and if anything
other than concrete Is used, we will demand that material comply with what our
standards are for slip proof. As I said on the phone, you should cwntact the City
Engineering Department, (telephone 239-EE11)9 to locate any underground utllities
that exist In that area. I would strongly recommend that you visit them at 3200
Cedar Street In Everett, .to see the water and sewer maps which give dimensions
for the underground utilities.
I am sending you a copy of the Everett CBD itudy, which shows you the patterns
used on Colby Avenue, should this be what you would like to do in front of your
building at Wetmore and Wall.
Sincerely,
3OE KOZLOVSKI
Project Coordinator
Enclosure
Oct Hugh Warren
velret;
r
