L ,� 00 SUBJECT Inspection of the City Nall. CITY OF EVERETT, EVERETT. WASHINGTON An. inspection was made of the City Hall on April 30, 1969 by the Fire Mar and the Electrical Inspector. The following is the result of that inspccticn. 1. ;'e recom,:end that all holes in ceilings and walls be scaled up. This corditicn oxists in nearly every room in the basement as well as other roGnz 2. All of the lights in the stairway are of an old type that .rust have a cover over the globe. These lights should also be on the emergency circuit. 3. All exit lights should be put back in service. 11. A fire escape should be installed for the 2nd and 3rd floors. 5. The doors should be put back on the opening at the top of the stairs on the 2rd floor. 6. There are several walls in the basement trade of wood which need to be replaced with onr hour fire resistive construction. 7. The electrical distribution system needs to be checked over. We found a few circuits that were over fused and many that were overloaded. 'riith the exception of one or two offices, all need more cutlets. We found extcndicn cords laying on the floor where people could walk on them as well as trip over them. 3. There are several places where junction box covers must be replaced. 9. The Las is still turned on to the old gas stove in the engineers room in the basement. If this stove is not in use the pas should be shut off to it. 10. The stairway door in the basement needs an automatic closure installed on it. 11. A fire door should be installed on the opening to the pipe shaft. 12. We found two five gallon cans of gas in the garage. These must be removed. 13. We found evidence of careless smoking habits in some of the areas. There were ash trays available but there were more cigarette butts on the floors than in the ash trays. 14. The fan in the weights and measure room in the basement is located in a c-rooden shaft. 15. Several places the conduit and switches need to he fastened to the wall or coiling. 16. There are a fear light fixtures with improper wiring to theca. 17. The oil on the floor of the furnace room needs to be cleaned up. Also the bench needs to be cleared of the furnace oil on it. 13. Remove old papers from the furnace room. 19. The windows opening into the old garage on the south side of the building needs to be one hour fire protected or bricked up. 20. The outlet in the coffee room that comes out of the police dispatch system should have another source of srpply and be disconnected from the police system. 21. The cash register in the traffic office must be put on another circuit.
