MYNT[I1
Fh. chief
It was called to oil attention thnt an overflow crowd was present in
the Council Chambers during the Council meeting of February 16, .1972.
A Mr. Larry Hillis called to complain that far too many people were
present in the Chambers for the exiting facilities that are available.
The seating capacity of the Ccuncil Chambe s is 1C0 persons. :i7ue
code requirements as adopted iy the City o' Everett states that two
exits must be provided where he nu,Tber of occupants is over 50.
We would offer three alternatives that would satis:y the requirements
Of City codes and ordinances and also citizens who take exception to
the City's violation of its own laws. The alternatives are as follows:
1. Post the numcr of occupants of the Council Chambers at
49 and strictly enforce the number.
2. Chcnge the meeting place to another location when a large
number of persons is anticipated.
3. Provide an a; proved second exit from the Council Chambers.
41e would be most happy to assist you in resolving this problem. If
we may be of service in any vay, please feel free to call.
Sincerely,
L
Walter H. Cooper
Fire Marshal
Robert C. Anderson
Mayor
