0
Mr. Arthur Johnson
12216 - 8th Avenue South
Seattle_, Washington
Dear N r. Johnson:
June 7, 1967
96?58
Thank you for your prompt reply to our letter of Iviay 29th regarding your
property at 3515 Wetmore Avenue. We know that it is quite difficult to
maintain a building that is vacant and the fact you live in Seattle makes it
even more difficult to police.
Our greatest concern with this structure is that in its present state it
becomes attractive to children and is a potential hazard to the entire
neighborhood. As mentioned, we can appreciate the difficulty of keeping
the building intact, however, this is a responsibility of the owner and we
would submit that a building propey'ly closed off would not be so susceptible
to vandalism.
Other pruperty owners in the neighborhood have voluntarily demolished
their dilapidated buildings within the past weeks and have thereby assisted
in the rehabilitation of the area and surely enhanced the entire vicinity.
MObviously a barb wire fence to not permitted within the city and certainly
is not needed in this instance. I wish to make it very clear, Mr. Johnson,
IILJII that this letter is to inform you that the hutlding located at 3515 Wetmore
Avenue constitutes a public nuisance as it now exists in its present condition
and this condition must be remedied immediately.
Please 1ct us know what action you intend to take to accomplish this.
Sincerely,
FRANK W OLTRING
Inst tetor
ni
