W�SIIINGtON <br />On July 19, 1977., I noticed two derelict houses in the 5200 b1ocY. <br />of �9etmore, between i9etmore and Colby. <br />I mailed a letter to the owner.s at that time but did not receive <br />a reply. <br />A Notice of Unsafe IIuildinq was r�ailed to the oo�ners on November <br />9, 1972 and the owners responded with an offer to deed the property <br />to the city for a parY.. <br />I notified the park of this and they indicate3 that they did not <br />want the property. <br />Shortly after that the owners deeded the property to a Rodne}� <br />Haynes, a ncighbor, and h� started to demolish one of the <br />structures. Mr. Haynes stopped working on the str.ucture in t3ie <br />la�ter pa=t of 1973, and although I urged him along, he refused to <br />complete the job. I issued a Notice of Unsafe IIuilding to h1r. <br />Haynes on July 25, 1974 and Mr. Haynes contacted me on July 27, <br />1979 to tell uc that the property was sold at a tax sale. <br />I then contacted the new owners, hir. Richard Olson aitd lirick Avist, <br />and they indicated that they would demoli.sh the buildings. I <br />informed both owners that there was a Notice oi Unsafe Building <br />pending on the property and that T would transfer it over to them. <br />I then mailed the Notice to the owners on January 29, 1975. <br />As neither owner responded to the Notice Z scheduled a IIuildinq <br />Officials Ilearing and sent Notice to botli owners. <br />u <br />m <br />
