� . � , . <br /> SLOPE STABILITY STUDY <br /> SHORE AV�NUE <br /> EVERETT, WASHINGTON <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> This report presents the findings and results of a slope stability <br /> study for the north facing slope and the area south to Shore <br /> Avenue, between Powder Mill Gulch and Edgewater Creek in the <br /> City of Everett� Washington. The work was authorized in your <br /> letter dated April 29, 1983• <br /> The purpose of this study was to determine the areas of and <br /> causes for instability along tlte slope area, 3dentify those <br /> areas where potential instabilities could occur and present <br /> mitigating meaeures to reduce further s2iding and eroaion. <br /> The scope of study inaluded performance of four borings along <br /> Shore Avenue and visual reccnnaissance of the slope area. <br /> Available geologic maps and past studies of the area were reviewed <br /> for background information. Stereoscopic air photo pairs from <br /> 1947. 1967 and 1981 were also studied and used for information <br /> presented in this ;eport. <br /> Enclosures to this report include a location/geologic map, air <br /> photo interpretation map and boring logs. <br /> All elevations mentioned in this report refer to existing grade <br /> and to a topographic map of the area supplied by you. <br /> LOCATION & SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The subject study area consists of the steep northerly facing <br /> sl.�e between Powder Mill Gulch and Edgewater Creek and the <br /> arra back Srom the top-of-slope to Shore Avenue in Everett, <br /> Washington. Burlington Northern Railroad right-of-way is located <br /> at the base of the steep slope, next to Possession Sound. <br /> Presently, the slope area ia in a natural andeveloped condition. <br /> Burlington Northern has conatructed a rock sea wall along the <br /> majority of the slope toe area to minimize erosion from Possession <br /> Sound.
