You have
asked me lo evaluale lhe impact of those changes to the laleral and structural engineering originally
provides for lhis projecL I have.ddressed lhem as follows;
1. The wall siuds and foundation were checked for the load irom the new dormer girder trusses.
The 2xG wall studs are adequale bul the foundation would be overstressed if the load was
loaded as a point load. I do nol believe the load will load as a point load given the amount of
wafl sheeting/rim joist available to spreao the load. However as lhe County has lhis concern
we have provided PSL beams between the girder trusses b spread the load to lhe footing.
This required inverted hangers as shown on lhe altached sketch. A calculalion for the beam is
provided.
2. An additional yable was added lo the new upper floor opposite lo lhe original one. This is
acceplable. Calculations attached.
3. Tlie upper floor stair landing was revised. This shortened the shear wall above the garage
shear wall. The smaller amount of wall has to be offset with added straps lo the two ends of
ihe wall. This is shown on the allached laleral summary sheet.
4. The main floor enlry windows were revised lo a bay window. The amount of shear wall
increased so that is acceplable. The header length has increased. I checked the specified
3.125x12 GLB and it is acceplable.
5. The kitchen window was made larger. The original shear wall and hoid-downs specified are
still adequate wilh the reduction in wall length. The calculation is attached.
Engineering and summary sheel are altached.
