Newman Two backhoe test pits were dug to reveal subsurface ccnditions. The site 6-4-91 is built on a well-compacted fill consis[ing of a conglomerate of materials. The backnoe encoun[ered dense rubble, clay and rip-rap in the 2nd pit and stooped. A test pile was driven to refusal at 4' and then moved a foot laterally where the pile buckled at 2}' . A new test pile was driven in a location 25' East of lli and penetrated 3}' before s[opping. A 3rd test pile was driven at the bot[om of test pi[ lil to a depth of 26}' . The pile driving sub and Ken of Duniap Towing decided [o suspend pile driving until further consulta[ion could be made with regard to the fuundation plan. A location survey of underground utilities should be made.
