A new dolphin berth 600 feet long consietiog of 4 dolphlna ia proposed north of the e:leting marginal wharf. Mcess to the berth will be through an exte¢sion of the exiatiag timber pile dock. Loading xill occur either across the ezisting marginal wharf or from Che vater at the proposed dolphin berth. Log bundles will be traneferred from the upland area to the water by easy let dovn devices. There vill also be 5-6 buoys placed south of the South Terminal for log raft atorage providing approximately 120,000 aquare feet of log raft storage. Inwater etructures between South Terminal and Pier 1 will be removed. Upland improve�ente vill include filliog the eite vith approzimately 100,000 cubic yards of sand and cruahed rock aub-base With 8-12 inchee of aephalt as a final surface covering. The e:iating varehouee nay be ezpanded by 45,000 aquare feet for general cargo usage. A number of etructures will be demolished and removed to accommodate the log yard, including 1) timber bulkheads and breakvatere; 2) old erestle pier piling; 3) removal of in-water atruc[ures between South Terminal and Pier I.
