anticipate that perched grour.dwaler seepage may exist in some areas immediately under the pavement
section and over the less permeable glacial till soils.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
EARTHQUAKE ENGINEERING
GcoEngincers has evaluated the site for seismic hazards including liquefaction, lateral spreading,
fault rupture and earthquake induced landsliding. Our evaluation indicates twat the site does not have
liquefiable soils present and therefore also has no risk of liquefaction induced later, I spreading. In
addition the site has a low risk of fault rupture and earthquake induced landsliding.
1997 UBC Seismic Design Information
The Puget Sound region is designated as a Seismic Zone 3 in the 1997 edition of the Uniform
Building Code (UBC). For Zone 3 locations, including the EvCC site, we recommend the 1997 UBC
Average Field Standard Penetration Resistance, Soil Profile Type, and Seismic Coefficients presented in
Table 2.
' 61.. 9 ITHC Cricmir Parumrterc
199711BC Parameter
Recommended Value
Average Field Standard Penetration Resistance
>50
Soil Profile Type
Sc
Seismic Coefficient, C.
0.33
Seismic Coefficient, C,.
0.45
2003 IBC Seismic Design Information
For the EvCC site, we recommend the IBC 2003 parameters for Average Field Standard Penetration
Resistance, Soil Profile Type, short period spectral response acceleration (SS), 1-second period spectral
response acceleration (S1), and Seismic Coefficients FA and FV presented in Table 3.
nr_u_ 9 rrrr Q.3.. 4. The materials we encountered
generally include dense to very dense silty sand, and very stiff to hard silt and silty clay. The native
glacial deposits may require a large excavator to accomplish the excavations.
