Please describe the item and its function: These are automatic mechanical bar screens for removing debris from the wastewater flow at the Everett Water Pollution Control Facility(EWPCF)headworks. These two units will replace two existing units that have been in continuous service for 24 years. The new units are the same make and specifications as the unit installed in 2001 and the unit installed in 2003. 2. What necessary features does this vendor provide which are not available from other vendors? Please be specific. The equipment is compatible with existing headworks infrastructure and equipment. These screens are exactly like one installed during in 2001 and another in 2003. This equipment has the same unique characteristics required by the EWPCF. These characteristics include screening mesh size,high flow capacity,telemetry requirements and alignment angles consistent with the existing screening conveyance systems. The new screens will also have the same maintenance protocols and allow for a common spare parts inventory. 4. What steps were taken to verify that these features are not available elsewhere? EI Other brands/manufacturers were examined(please list phone numbers and names,and explain why these were not suitable). Plant research prior and subsequent to the 2001 upgrade determined that the Mahr bar screen best met the EWPCF's unique requirements for this application. Other manufacturers who were evaluated include Wiese Flo,HydroPress step screen),Waterlink/Hycor,Schloss,JDV Equipment,Waste-Tech and Infilco Degremont. ❑ Other vendors were contacted(please list phone numbers and names,and explain why these were not suitable).
