<br /> DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT:
<br /> The 2002 Water Filtration Plant(WFP)Facilities Plan outlined project recommendations to maintain and
<br /> improve operations At the plant. Recommended projects include the relocation of Portal 3. The existing
<br /> Portal 3 was constructed in 1930 and no longer serves its purpose (pipeline inlet for reservoir water), and
<br /> does not meet current seismic construction codes. The original contract(Professional Services Agreement)
<br /> for$218,000 provided for engineering study, design, and construction support services; Amendment No. 1
<br /> provided for$39,500 to perform a detailed seismic analysis of the Portal 3 structure. In addition, URS
<br /> prepared an assessment of different construction approaches in order to focus on a more economical solution
<br /> for the City. Amendment No. 2 will provide for a redesign based on the recommendations of this
<br /> assessment, as well as provide for construction support services from URS. This amendment will bring the
<br /> total contract amount to $445,142.
<br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
<br /> Authorize Mayor to sign Amendment No. 2 to the Professional Services Agreement with URS Corporation
<br /> for engineering services for the Portal 3 Relocation Project at the Water Filter Plant in the amount of
<br /> $187,642.00
