Recommended projects include construction of a new clearwell facility to <br /> increase plant capacity and improve flow management in the water transmission system. The existing <br /> clearwell is nearly 25 years old, and cannot be taken off line for long periods time to allow for maintenance <br /> and repairs until the new clearwell is constructed. The new clearwell will improve drinking water <br /> disinfection operations, aid flow management, and increase effective plant capacity. <br /> Bids for this project were received on May 8th, and Stellar J Corporation of Woodland, Washington was the <br /> apparent low bidder; the Engineer's estimate was $24,970,000. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Award to Stellar J Corporation the contract for construction of the Water Filtration Plant's Clearwell No.2 <br /> and authorize the Mayor to sign the contract with this firm for the sum of$19,333,638. <br /> 37 <br />
