8
Project: South End Interceptor North Segment Sewer Protection
Change Order No.1
Change Order Effective Date: May 30, 2007
CONTRACTOR;
By (, Date: 139 f G 7
Officer
Contract Time: The contract time was written with an end date of requiring substantial completion
no later than June 15, 2007. No additional days are being allowed by this change order.
Exhibit A—Description of Changed Work
This change order#1 adds new bid item#10 entitled, "Additional Sewer Pipe Protection", at the lump
sum price of$180,000.00.
Justification:
The City of Everett added an additional 200 linear feet in length to the original plan quantity of 350
linear feet of existing 36-inch sewer force main pipe requiring protection.
The majority of the additional linear feet of sewer pipe protection being added is south of the original
plan quantity. This area has the constraints of the BNSF tracks which exist very close and just west of
the existing sewer pipe requiring protection.
Due to this close proximity of the BNSF tracks to the existing 36-inch sewer pipe the method of laying
back the trench slopes at a 1 to 1 was not an option, and thus required the need of shoring boxes to
protect workers in the excavated area.
