1 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 6-19.3(2) Shaft Construction Submittal <br /> I3 This section is revised to read: <br /> 4 <br /> 5 The shaft construction submittal shall be comprised of the following four components: <br /> I 6 construction experience; shaft installation narrative; shaft slurry technical assistance; <br /> 7 and nonctestructive-QA testing personnel. The submittals shall be Type 2 Working <br /> 8 Drawings, except the shaft slurry technical assistance and nondestructive QA testing <br /> I 9 personnel submittals shall be Type 1. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 This section is supplemented with the following new subsection: <br /> I 12 <br /> 13 6-19.3(2)D Nondestructive QA Testing Organization and Personnel <br /> 14 The Contractor shall submit the names of the testing organizations, and the names of <br /> I 15 <br /> 16 the personnel who will conduct nondestructive QA testing of shafts. The submittal shall <br /> include documentation that the qualifications specified below are satisfied. For TIP <br /> 17 testing, the testing organization is the group that performs the data analysis and <br /> 18 produces the final report. The testing organizations and the testing personnel shall meet <br /> I19 the following minimum qualifications: <br /> 20 <br /> 21 1. The testing organization shall have performed nondestructive tests on a <br /> I 22 minimum of three deep foundation projects in the last two years. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 2. Personnel conducting the tests for the testing organization shall have a <br /> 25 minimum of one year experience in nondestructive testing and interpretation. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 3. The experience requirements for the organization and personnel shall be <br /> I 28 consistent with the testing methods the Contractor has selected for <br /> 29 nondestructive testing of shafts. <br /> 30 <br /> I 31 4. Personnel preparing test reports shall be a Professional Engineers, licensed <br /> 32 under Title 18 RCW, State of Washington, and in accordance with WAC 196- <br /> 33 23-020. <br /> 34 <br /> I35 6-19.3(3) Shaft Excavation <br /> 36 The second paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 37 <br /> 1 38 Shaft excavation shall not be started until the Contractor has received the Engineer <br /> 39 acceptance for the reinforcing steel centralizers required when the casing is to be pulled <br /> 40 during concrete placement. <br /> I 41 <br /> 42 This section is supplemented with the following: <br /> 43 <br /> I 44 Except as otherwise noted, the Contractor shall not commence subsequent shaft <br /> 45 excavations until receiving the Engineer's acceptance of the first shaft, based on the <br /> 46 results and analysis of the nondestructive testing for the first shaft. The Contractor may <br /> I 47 commence subsequent shaft excavations prior to receiving the Engineer's acceptance <br /> 48 of the first shaft, provided the following condition is satisfied: <br /> 49 <br /> 50 The Engineer permits continuing with shaft construction based on the Engineer's <br /> I51 observations of the construction of the first shaft, including, but not limited to, <br /> 52 conformance to the shaft installation narrative in accordance with Section 6- <br /> I <br /> I <br /> AMENDMENTS TO THE 2016 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS BOOK <br /> Revised: 8/1/16 <br />
