BACKWATER VALVE AUTHORIZATION <br /> i_ Permission to Inspect. The Owner grants permission to the City and its contractor to <br /> inspect the plumbing and drainage of the Owner's property f'br the purpose of <br /> determining whether a backwater valve should be installed. The City and Owner will <br /> cooperate to determine a mutually agreeable time liar the inspection. The inspection is at <br /> the City's sole.cost. <br /> 2. Backwater Valve, <br /> A. Installation Permission. if the inspection determines that a backwater valve (or <br /> other similar device) may be usetbl to prevent future water damage and the <br /> Owner's property does not have a backwater valve currently' in place (or if the. <br /> City dotermines that the currently-in-place backwater valve is defective, <br /> improperly located, or is otherwise improperly fiinctioninl and not repairable), <br /> the Owner grants the City perrnission to install a new backwater valve (or similar <br /> device) at the City's sole cost as recommended by the inspection. The City will <br /> have its contractor perfiorm the installation. The Owner agrees to allow the City <br /> contractor to enter upon the properly and perform the installation. <br /> B. hist:nllaction i'rctccetttle. •J'he Owner and City contractor will cooperation to <br /> schedule an agreeable installation date. The Owner understands that the City <br /> contractor must excavate down to the sewer line in order to install the backwater <br /> valve. 'The installation of the backwater valve (or similar device) is at no cost to <br /> the Owner. After the installation of the backwater valve,the City contractor will <br /> refill the exeavaticm, but the Owner is responsible for the restoration of the <br /> Owner's grass or other landscaping. <br /> C. Vntttre Maintenance. Upon installation,the backwater valve(or similar device) is <br /> the Owner's property. The Owner is exclusively responsible to maintain it. <br /> 3. Other_l cctnnmended improvements. After the completion of the inspection,the City <br /> may provide the Owner with a list of other recommended improvements to property's <br /> plumbing and drainage systems.This list will he a list of recommendations.
