• r ORDINANCE NO. An Ordinance establishing the City of Everett Diversity Advisory Board to identify and prioritize issues regarding diversity and inclusion and offer recommendations to the Mayor of the City of Everett Whereas, the City of Everett benefits when all members of the communities are valued and respected; and Whereas,the City of Everett will benefit from the inclusion of all citizens which will ensure that the diversity of the city is represented in policy and decision making; and Whereas,the City of Everett will benefit from an inclusive recruitment processes to ensure city government represents the community; and Whereas,the City of Everett will benefit when women and minority-owned businesses have equal access to city procurement opportunities; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: Diversity Advisory Board Established. There is hereby created a Diversity Advisory Board, whose purpose shall be to advise the Mayor on matters relating to diversity and inclusion. Section 2: Membership,Appointment and Terms. The Diversity Advisory Board shall consist of 15 members who reflect the diverse community that is Everett. The Mayor shall appoint the 15 members with approval by City Council. The members of the Board shall serve four-year terms beginning Oct. 1, 2007, except that the first 15 members shall be appointed for different terms as follows: (a) seven members appointed for a period of four yeas; and (b) eight members appointed for a period of two years. Section 3: Objectives of Board. The Diversity Advisory Board shall meet the following objectives: a) Every two years, the Board will create a work plan outlining goals and expectations of the board for a two-year period. b) Make recommendations concerning City policies and programs needed to suit the diverse character of the community.
