As a matter of practice, we estimated the amounts to be used and ask the Assessor to determine and use the correct rates for general property taxes. The amounts for taxes relating to specific bond payments are known and exact amounts are used in the ordinance. The ordinance includes the levies for general funds, EMS, and two voter-approved bond issues. The 2008 property tax ordinance calls for a one percent increase in the regular levy. RECOMMENDATION: Adopt an Ordinance levying the general taxes for the City of Everett for fiscal year commencing January 1, 2008, on all taxable property, both real and personal, subject to taxation thereon, for the purpose of raising a portion of the revenue to carry on City operations for the ensuing year, as required by the Charter of the City of Everett and the laws of the State of Washington. 4 7
