Ordinance <br /> Amount Budgeted $250,000 <br /> Expenditure Required $550,000 Account Number: Fund 354, Program 023 <br /> Budget Remaining <br /> Additional Required $300,000 <br /> DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: <br /> Funding for the Wiggums Hollow Skate Park project will be used for construction of a street-style <br /> skate park, spectator viewing areas, fencing, sidewalks, parking lot, security lights, surveillance <br /> cameras and site amenities. A stainless steel skateboard sculpture will be installed in the skate <br /> park and funded through the city's cultural arts program. Snohomish County PUD will be providing <br /> new overhead electrical service. <br /> Parks received three base bids for the project on October 16, 2007 ranging from $414,854 to <br /> $745,000 plus Washington State Sales Tax (1NSST). The three bidders are from Bonney Lake, <br /> Lynnwood, and Bellingham. The bid amount and the project scope have been verified with the <br /> lowest responsive bidder. In addition to the construction bid, the project total includes an <br /> approximate 13% construction contingency, sales tax, plan review fees and PUD electrical <br /> connection charges. Based on these elements, the total project cost is estimated to be $550,000. <br /> The original funding consisted of$250,000 from Capital Improvement Program 3 (CIP 3). <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Adopt the proposed ordinance creating a <br /> special improvement project entitled "Wiggums Hollow Skate Park", Fund 354, Program 023, to <br /> accumulate all costs for the improvement project and repealing Ordinance No. 2796-04. <br /> 50r <br />
