c tCttpof Eicrctt <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, violence against women occurs worldwide, destroying lives <br /> and disrupting families; and <br /> WHEREAS, one in five women in Washington state reports being injured <br /> by domestic violence and one in six reports being raped; and <br /> WHEREAS, Zonta International is a highly regarded service organization <br /> of business and professional executives dedicated to advancing the status <br /> of women; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2005 Zonta International selected the eradication of <br /> violence against women as a service focus; and <br /> WHEREAS, Zonta Club of Everett funds and participates in local <br /> education, service and advocacy projects that promote women's safety; <br /> and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ray Stephanson, Mayor of Everett, do hereby <br /> proclaim November 14, 2007, as <br /> "ELIMINATE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN DAY" <br /> in the city of Everett and urge residents to support the fight to advance <br /> the status of women worldwide. <br /> Signed this 14th day of November 2007. <br /> Mayor Ray Stephanson <br />
